FORMS Flashcards

1
Q

Interval Takeoff

A
  • Lead takes downwind or left side (wind calm)
  • Wing lines up middle of opposite side of runway on bearing line
  • Lead passes run-up signal, wing acknowledges
  • MRT checks, inspect other aircraft, thumbs up
  • Wing rolls 7 seconds after lead

Q

Running Rendezvous

A
  • Lead climbs with 92-94% power
  • Wing places lead slightly above horizon
  • At 250 knots, place lead on horizon, set abeam distance (250-300’, just outside HUD FOV)
  • Fly straight line to bearing (300 kts max)
  • 2000’ nose to tail (.3 DME) reduce power
  • 1000’ nose to tail (.1 DME) 275 kts max
  • 15 kts closure max when arriving on bearing line
  • Once on bearing line, drive into parade

Q

TACAN Rendezvous

A
  • Lead briefs break up, rendezvous point, then brakes up flight
  • Lead calls his point, wing calls TACAN DME
  • Wing stays 500’ below lead until on bearing with fuselages aligned
  • Wing calls “visual” when lead is in sight
  • Use lead/lag method to align fuselages
  • On bearing w/ fuselages aligned, climb to altitude and proceed with CV join up

Q

CV Rendezvous

A
  • 30 deg AOB turn
  • Maximum 10 knots of closure within 1000’
  • Once on bearing line, reduce AOB to avoid going acute
  • On bearing and within 100’ (3 wingspans) begin joinup by increasing stepdown (15’) and flying 10’ nose to tail
  • Pause momentarily on lead’s radius of turn, then move up into VFR turn away position

Q

Parade position

A
  • 30 deg bearing, 5’ step down, 3’ lateral separation
  • sight line down leading edge of wing (bearing)
  • see equal parts of top and bottom wing (stepdown)
  • FWD stab tip lined up with exhaust can (lateral distance)
  • A-B-C Use Pitch for stepdown, power for bearing, AOB for lateral seperation
  • Remain relaxed, scan leads entire aircraft, keep aircraft trimmed

Q

Cross-under (Box type)

A
  • Wing uses power and altitude to simultaneously move back and down for 10’ nose to tail, 15’ stepdown
  • Power to stop aft movement
  • wing dip then level, + power
  • wing dip towards lead to stop
  • power up pitch up to drive fwd into parade

Q

Breakup and Rendezvous

A
  • 250 or 300 kts
  • Lead passes signal, wing acknowledges
  • Lead breaks away for 180 deg of turn, 14-15 units
  • Wing breaks after 2 seconds, keeps lead on horizon, varies G to arrive at 1000’ nose to tail seperation
  • Wing arrives 1000’ behind lead, stepped up, on airspeed (15 min check)
  • Lead waits 10 seconds then begins 30 deg AOB turn
  • Once outside HUD FOV, wing banks for 45 deg, adds power as required (+10 kts max)
  • Altitude - keeps lead on horizon
  • Bearing - Vertical stab over outside wing tip
  • Reduce AOB when arriving on leads bearing line and align fuselages
  • Begin join when 100’ away (3 plane lengths) below and behind
  • Pause on leads radius of turn (15’ step down, 10’ nose to tail)
  • Move up into VFR turn away position
