If a formation splits up, what must the solo add to the base call?
“solo”
What is the difference between push and go, and when is which used?
Push: no acknowledge, just switch
Go: 2 acknowledges
Go is pre-solo, push may be used post-solo
What does Sweep ATIS mean?
Every member listens to one cycle of ATIS.
Listen to ATIS on Prime, unless otherwise briefed/directed or required (i.e. VHF frequency)
“(Position X), cleared ATIS” meaning and subsequent calls
Position directed to listen to ATIS and report back with:
Wingman: “(Callsign), up with (identifier)”
Lead: “Go with (identifier)”
Wingman: “RWY, winds, altimeter…”
When do you pass the thumbs up signal to lead, indicating you’re ready for engine start?
Prior to closing the canopy
When do you not wait for the lead to initiate engine start?
- When not visual
- ITS Caution/Danger
- FRL Low (Caution)
When is check in time? (Standards and practical)
Standards: 10 min prior to T/O
Practical: 15 min from stepping off the bus

Add 1,000’ to T/O run
When may wing call “same” on a Bullseye check?
Within 3° and 1 nm

- Straight Ahead
- On 33L/C/R
- Turning
- Left
- Right, no matter if turning or straight ahead

- Wing performs warm-up rolling out in trail
- Both regain 220 KIAS (level)
- Both exchange ready calls
- Lead: “C/S, G awareness left/right”
- Wing delays until lead pass 3/9 line
