Q
ulnar nerve course
elbow
forearm
wrist
end
A

elbow: descends behind medial epicondyle giving it shallow groove then pass between heads of flexor carpi ulnaris

forearm: descends on flexor digitorum profundus. covered by flexor carpi ulnaris
in lower 1/3 of forearm it becomes superficial between flexor carpi ulnaris and flexor digitorum superficialis

wrist: descends superficial to flexor retinaculum, lateral to pisiform, medial to ulnar artery
end: in front of flexor retinaculum by dividing into superficial and deep branch

Q

branches of ulnar nerve in forearm

A
  1. articular branches - supply elbow joint
  2. muscular branches - supply flexor capri ulnaris and 1/2 flexor digitorum profundus
  3. cutaneous branches
    a. palmar - skin and 1/2 of palm

Q
median nerve course
axilla
upper arm
middle
lower
elbow joint
leaving arm
A

axilla: descends
arm:
upper - descends lateral to brachial artery
middle - crosses brachial artery to become medial to it
lower - descends medial to brachial artery lying on brachilis
elbow joint: lies in front of brachilis and behind bicipital aponeurosis which separates it from median cubital vein.
leaves arm by passing into cubital fossa of forearm

16
Q

median nerve course

forearm

A

forearm: enters cubital fossa and crossed superficially by bicipital aponeurosis.

leaves cubital fossa by passing b/w 2 heads of pronator teres

then, reaches flexor digitorum superficialis and descends between it and the flexor digitorum profundus
right above the wrist

it becomes superficial between flexor capri radialis and flexor digitorum superficialis

17
Q

the 2 heads of the pronator teres is separated by

A

deep head of muscle from ulnar artery

18
Q

median course nerve

wrist & end

A

wrist - median nerve enters palm by passing deep to flexor retinaculum

end - ends in carpal tunnel by dividing into 2 terminal divisions - later & medial

19
Q

branches of median nerve in axilla & arm

A

none

20
Q

branches of median nerve in forearm

describe first 2

A

articular branches (in cubital fossa) - supply elbow & superior radio-ulnar joint

muscular branches (in cubital fossa) - supply 4 muscles ; pronator teres, flexor capri radialis, palmaris longus, and flexor digitorum superficialis

anterior interosseous nerve

palmar cutaneous branch

21
Q

anterior interosseous nerve

A

arises from medial nerve between 2 heads of pronator teres
