Forces Flashcards
What are the 7 contact forces?
Push, pull, twist, upthrust, air resistance, water resistance and friction.
How do you know when forces are balanced?
Two of the forces acting upon an object are equal in size.
Like a boring game of tug of war.
How do you know when forces are unbalanced?
One force is greater than the force working in the opposite direction.
Like an entertaining game of tug of war.
How do you work out the mass of an object?
Weight / level of gravity = mass (kg)
How do you work out the weight of an object?
Mass * level of gravity = weight (N)
How do you work out the level of gravity of a planet?
Weight / mass = level of gravity
How do you work out the distance that an object has crossed?
Speed * time = distance (m)
How do you work out the soeed of an object?
Distance/ time = speed (seconds)
How do you work oyt the time that an object has taken?
Distance/ speed = time (seconds)
How do you work out the moment of an object?
Force * distance = moment (Nm)
How do you work out the force of an object?
Moment / distance = force (N)
How do you work out the distance from a pivot?
Moment / force = distance (m)
How do you work out the force of an object?
Pressure * area = force
How do you work out the pressure of an object?
Force/area = pressure
