What are food traffic lights?
Color coding on food labels used for packaging.
Red means high and can be harmful
Orange means medium
Green means low.
What is the difference between ‘best before’ and ‘use before’?
Best Before - date tells till when the food taste will be at its best,
Use Before - date that tell till when is food safe to eat and after that often harmful bacteria can grow in them
In EU food packaging with label ‘organic’ means what?
Food is grown and produced without the use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides.
What does the label low fat mean?
Food should contain less than 3g of sugars per 100 g of food.
What does reduced fat, light or lite mean?
Food must contain 30% less fat or energy than another food of the same type.
For e.g 100g of reduced fat yoghurt will give 30% less energy or fat than 100g of full fat yoghurt
