Food Distribution Systems Flashcards

1
Q

What is global food distribution?

A

Since global food production is not evenly distributed, food is exported and imported around the world. The journey food takes from it’s place of origin to the consumer is sometimes a very long one. These long supply chains contribute to climate change because they require the burning of fossil fuels, especially when the food must travel by air. Additionally, many people are concerned with the widening of the producer to consumer gap and the lack of support for local producers.
