Ingredient list

A

Lists all the ingredients used in the recipe in the order they will be used in the directions. If there are different parts to the recipe, some recipes will separate the ingredients (ex. crust and filling for a pie).

Directions

A

Each part of the recipe is written as a different step. Directions can be written in numbered steps or paragraphs. The directions will state the cooking directions (temperature and time) and may include what cookware to use (ex. medium saucepan).

A

A

To measure dry ingredients like sugar and flour, use a measuring cup. Then use a straight edge, like the back of a dinner knife, to level it off.

A

Conveniently, most fats, like butter and shortening, come in packages with measurements on the side. To use the markings, simply find the amount you want and cut the desired amount of fat out of the package with a knife.
