Following a Recipe Flashcards
Yield
The number of servings that the recipe makes.
Ingredient list
Lists all the ingredients used in the recipe in the order they will be used in the directions. If there are different parts to the recipe, some recipes will separate the ingredients (ex. crust and filling for a pie).
Directions
Each part of the recipe is written as a different step. Directions can be written in numbered steps or paragraphs. The directions will state the cooking directions (temperature and time) and may include what cookware to use (ex. medium saucepan).
How do you change the yield?
You multiply or divide each ingredient accordingly or you can use a yield calculator website (some recipes will have one attached).
What should you watch out for in video recipes?
There are a lot of great recipes to be discovered in cooking shows and on vlogs but they don’t always state an ingredient list or a yield. Most of the time however, the recipe can be found on their website.

To measure dry ingredients like sugar and flour, use a measuring cup. Then use a straight edge, like the back of a dinner knife, to level it off.
