peripheral smear: elevated MCV >115, hypersegmented neutrophils
labs:
decreased Folate (less than 150)
normal B12
Increased serum homocysteine
macroovalocytes, Howell-jolly bodies

treatment of Folate deficiency anemia
A
avoid alcohol and folic acid metabolism antagonists
folic acid 1mg PO daily
