  7. bacterial Ag test in 50-100%
  8. PCR helpful but time consuming

A

Pol: encodes reverse transcriptase, protease, integrase *impt targets for antiretroviral meds
Env: polypeptide that is cleaved to form gp120 and gp41 on viral envelope, needed for attachment to and fusion w/ CD4 cells
Gag: proteins that make up viral core
