FLUIDIZATION TERMS Flashcards
Stage in fluidization where solid particles are still in direct contact with each other hereby supportimg each other’s weight
Fixed Bed
Type of fluidization where the start is characterized by a gentle rocking or oscillation of the solid particles.
Particulate Fluidization
Usually followed by a solid-liquid system
Occurs when fluid and solid densities vary greatly from each other
Aggregatic Fluidization ( Usually followed by a solid gas system)
Porosity of the bed when fluidization occurs
Minimum porosity
Velocity at which the solid particles will start to be swept out of the container
Terminal Fluidization Velocity
Distance between the top of the fluidized bed and the fluid exit nozzle
Freeboard or Disengaging Height
Designed to prevent backflow of solids during normal operation and also during shutdown
Fluid Distributor
