- Is the water up to the bottom of the railhead.
- Is the water up to the top of the railhead.
- Is the water above the top of the railhead.
- Is the water moving and likely to dislodge ballast.
- Has the water dislodged any ballast.

What information do you need if someone reports flowing or pooling that affects structures and earthworks? (4)
A
- The location.
- If it is flowing or pooling.
- If the water is displacing any material.
- What is affected by the water (Cess, embankment, cutting etc.)

What must you arrange if a driver reports flowing or pooling water not to be safe for trains?
A
A competent engineer to examine the line

A
- Operations control give you permission.
- SBSI allows you to do so.
- Competent engineer has told you it is safe.
