2
Q

example of a mass movement event

A

rotational slumping which happened in Scarborough 1993 - which lead to the collapse of holdback house - due to the ground below collapsing

3
Q

how was the event sped up

A

it was sped up due to high amounts of rainfall - weakened the ground beneath it - may of been days or hours

Q

how does it differ depending on seasons

A

during winter waves have more energy - therefore more of an effect on the coastline

therefore destructive waves cause more erosion in winter - remove sediment from on shore locations to offshore causing beach gradient to reduce

Q

example of seasonal change

A

Filey bay was formed during high energy destructive waves - especially sped up during winter 2010-2011

6
Q

what else can speed up changes

A

sub aerial processes and weather can be enhanced in different seasons - speeding up changes

7
Q

why is it a negative feedback loop

A

as the changes from winter cancelled out in summer as beaches form due to more constructive waves

9
Q

example of millennial change at high energy

A

Q

another example

A

shore platform present at robin hoods bay could have been formed over past 6000 years due to similar sea levels - however evidence shows it may have just been formed in previous interglacial
