Power
Vertical jump test. Strength x speed
Reaction time
Ruler drop test. The time taken to initate a response to a stimulus
Agility
Illinois agility test. The ability to move and change direction quickly whilst maintaining control
Muscular endurance
Abdominal curl conditional test. The ability of a muscle to undergo repeated contraction
Speed
30m sprint. The rate at which an individual is able to perform a movement or cover a distance in a period of time
Strength
Handgrip dynamometer strength. The ability to cover a resistance
Balance
Strork balance test. Centre of mass over the base of support
Co-ordination
Wall toss test. The ability to use two or more parts of the body well
Cardio vascular endurance
Cooper run. The ability of the heart and lungs to supply oxygen to working muscles.
Flexibility
Sit and reach test. The range of movement possible at a joint
Reasons for fitness testing
-identify strengths and weaknesses -Monitor improvements -to compare against group averages -to motivate/ set goals
Limitations of fitness testing
-not can not be specific to your sport -they not always similar to the movement in the activity -some test aren’t reliable.
