When do you review fissure sealants

A

every 4-6months - high risk= 6months, moderate risk = 12months, low risk = 24 months

After placement of fissure sealant what do you check?

A

Check no air blows
Check no material has gone interproximally - remove with floss
Check no excess material distal to the tooth on the soft tissues (flash)
Check for non adherance

What are the indications for glass ionomer fissure sealants?

A

Where good moisutre control cannot be achieved
Where there is a high degree of sensititvity due to developmental or heriediatry enamel defects
Useful as release fluoride but poorly retained and require regular application
