What does FISH DO?
A
FISH, which stands for Fluorescence in situ hybridization, is a technique used to examine an organism’s genetics by looking at its chromosomes.

Q
Here’s a rundown of how FISH works:
A
-A segment of DNA, called a probe, is created to match a particular gene or region of interest.
-This probe is tagged with a fluorescent dye.
-The probe is then introduced to the chromosomes which have been placed on a slide.
-If the probe finds its matching sequence on a chromosome, it will bind to it.
A special microscope can then be used to see the glowing spot, revealing the location of the gene or region of interest.
