Why do we need COSHH?
A
Two main reasons why we need it.
Protects workers’ health: Exposure to hazardous substances can cause health problems, both short-term + long-term. Helps to prevent this by requiring employers to assess the risks posed by hazardous substances and take steps to control those risks.
Legal requirement: COSHH is not just good practice, it’s the law. Employers who fail to comply with COSHH can be fined or even prosecuted.
