A

-was a botanist, teacher, and Augustinian prelate, the first person to lay the mathematical foundation of the science of genetics, in what came to be called Mendelism.
-the “father of genetics”
-he conducted experiments on pea plants that helped establish the foundation of modern genetics.
-His work with peas led to the development of several principles of inheritance, known as Mendelian inheritance
