FFP Rowframes Flashcards
A. Brownstone type rowframe Generally has ____ windows across the from and __#__ apartments per floor.
3 windows across the from and 1 apartment per floor (generally)
A OLT type rowframe generally has __#__ windows across the from and __#__ apartments per floor.
4 windows across the front and 2 apartments per floor (generall)
In a rowframe the cockloft can be how big?
1ft to tall enough for a man to stand in
At a fire in a rowframe who coordinates horizontal ventilation and who coordinates initial vertical ventilation?
The ladder officer of the area to be vented
At a top floor fire in a brownstone type rowframe, where does the 2nd due truck operate?
2nd due ladder will split to examine the exposures 2 and 4 for extension
At a top floor fire in a OLT type rowframe where does the 2nd due ladder operate?
The top floor in the adjoining apartment to check for fire and examine the cockloft.
When is a member under immediate supervision of the officer?
When within visual or voice contact of the officer
Or
When operating on a hoseline or search line which is under the supervision of an officer
At a 3 window from rowframe fire, the roof informs the LCC of the aerial that no rescue is required, what does the LCC do next?
LCC will reposition the aerial for top floor VEIS with 2nd LCC or another member, when use of interior stairs is denied by fire top floor VEIS is mandatory
At a 3 window front rowframe fire which of the three windows should you use for VEIS?
The window inline with the entrance usually is a small room(deadman’s) other two windows usually go into a larger room. Use the windows for the larger room
At a 4 window front rowframe that is on fire, after the roofman has reached the roof the aerial should be repositioned for VEIS of the fire apartment. What floors do you use a portable to VEIS the fire apt and which floors will you use the aerial?
Floors 1 and 2 use a portable
Floors 3 and higher use the aerial
What is the order of preference to the roof for the roof firefighter at a rowframe building?
1- 1st aerial
2- 2nd aerial
3- adjoining building (skip a building because of cockloft threats)
At a fire in a rowframe the roofman notices that person is trapped and in need of rescue, who should they contact?
1- the IC
2- the ladder company officer
2- ladder company officer
2nd ladder at a top floor fire in a brownstone type rowframe, where does the officer and inside team operate and what does the can bring for tools?
The more exposed exposure and the can brings two 6’ hooks in lieu of the can
You are the officer of the 2nd truck at a brownstone type rowframe top floor fire, you are in the more severe exposure. How do you check for a cockloft fire?
Poke a hole in the ceiling in each room, do not pull the ceilings until a charged hoseline is in place.
At a brownstone type rowframe top floor fire, where does the 2nd ov operate?
(When rear fire escape)
VEIS top floor when teamed up with 1st ov or another available member when rear F/E
The arriving ladder is a tower ladder at a rowframe fire. How does the OV operate at (not top floor fire):
1-brownstone type
2-OLT type
1-brownstone type- take roof to roof via bucket, then vent fire floor, then go get roofman and VEIS the top floor
2-OLT type- take roofman to roof, then VEIS the fire apt
What size hose should be stretched at rowframe?
1 3/4”
T or f
An engine company order to stretch to an exposure for a cockloft fire in a rowframe should bring a 6’ hook to help pull ceilings
True
For a fire in the cellar of a rowframe, where is the 1st line stretched?
Thru the front door then down interior stairs into the cellar
For a cellar fire in a rowframe, where is the 2nd line stretched if:
1- first line advances down interior stair
2-first line is used to cover stairs and 1st floor, not needed to be backed up
1- 1st line goes down then 2nd line will cover the stairs and 1st floor
2- if 1st line stays on first floor, 2nd will enter basement via exterior entrance
In brownstone type rowframe, fire on the first floor (basement) where does the 1st line go, where does 2nd line go?
First line goes into the 1st floor(basement)
2nd line if not needed to backup the 1st line it goes up the stoop to the second floor (parlor floor) to protect interior stairs
For a fire in a fully involved rowframe with fire showing in the exposures, where the 1st, 2nd and 3rd line go?
1st line (1st engine should drop a 3 1/2” for a tower ladder) goes into the fire building
2nd line if not needed to back up the first line goes to the top floor of the most severe exposure
3rd line- if second line is in the exposure go to the opposite exposure, if second line is backing up first line then go to the most severe exposure
For a fire in a vacant rowframe in a row of occupied rowframe where do the 1st three lines go and who drops a 3 1/2” for a tower ladder
1st engine drops the 3 1/2”
1st line goes into the most severe exposure
2nd line backs up first line, if not backing up then it goes into the fire building or opposite exposure
3rd line goes into opposite exposure or fire building depending on what second line did
For a fire in a vacant rowframe in a row of vacants how does the first engine operate and where does the second hoseline go?
1st engine drops and 3 1/2” and 1 3/4” hose. They use the 1 3/4” on the outside until a heavy caliber stream is set up then they go into the severe exposure
2nd line if not needed to back up goes to opposite exposure or thru an exposure to the rear yard
