T or F
For a backstretch, the engine pull up to the hydrants, drops and keys the hydrant with a supply line, then drives in the vicinity of the fire building.
False, that is in-line pumping
What is a back stretch?
When the pumpers stops at the building and members take off enough hose to reach the fire, the engine drives slowing to the hydrant playing out hose on its way.
For inline pumping, a 4 firefighter engine, who is the hose FF and who is the hydrant FF.
4 FF engine
Hose FF = back up
Hydrant FF = control
For inline pumping, a 5 firefighter engine, who is the hose FF and who is the hydrant FF?
5 FF engine
Hose FF = door
Hydrant FF = control
For inline pumping:
A- how big of a main should the hydrant be on?
B- what is the max number of lengths for the initial supply line?
C-When pressure drops below what psi do they have to be augmented?
A- 6” main
B- 6 lengths
C- 15psi
When inline pumping, how many lengths of supply line can be hand stretched back to the hydrant?
3 lengths
