A
- Data was used from an online survey of approx. 500 women recruited through pregnancy related Web sites
- Mean age of 28.1 years

- Indicated current level of nausea using a 16-point scale (questions were interspersed with distractor questions)
- Answered questions to test theory disgust sensitivity in eight different areas (e.g food, contact with animals, body products, and dead animals; contact with toilets)

Findings
A
- Disgust sensitivity related to food and body products in first trimester was higher compared to those in the second and third trimesters (grouped together)
- Overall disgust was higher in the first trimester
- Food-borne diseases are particularly dangerous to women in the first trimester
- May indicate that nausea and vomiting in the first trimester are evolved behaviors because they limit the likelihood that pregnant women will eat dangerous food
