Procedure
A
- Sample: 740 men from US (Amazon’s Mechanical Turk used to recruit)
- Self reported data obtained through several assessments including: Honour Ideology for Manhood Scale
(HIM), Comprehensive Assessment of Sadistic Tendencies (CAST), Lifetime AGgressive Acts (LAGG) score and a
personality trait assessment - Assessment order was counterbalanced and participants completed additional assessments for inclusion in
other studies (took less than 30 minutes)

Findings
A
- People with higher levels of everyday sadism are more likely to hold hostile views where they feel the need to
respond aggressively to honour threats - Higher honour ideology is associated with higher levels of aggressive behaviour
- Supports the hypothesis that masculine honour ideology (MHI), aggression, antisocial personality traits and sadism are correlated
