Fat Flashcards
Simple fat depots
Suncutaneous faat, kidneys, under serous membranes, bone marrow
Demonstration of fats
Pathological deposition of fat
- increased amount in physiological localization
- abnormal localization
Radial stripes in cortex of kidneys.
In cats its typical to have in cortex of kidneys
In birds during first 7 days of life its physiological to have fat infiltration of the liver
Fatty degenetation of thre liver
Physiological: periphery only
Pathological: centrilobular -> diffuse (severe), random, zonal, bridging, massive
Microvesicular - tiny vesicles in the cells but nucleus is intact - reversible
Macro - fat will destroy the necleus of the cell - irreversible
Steatohepatopathy
Causes of pathological fatty infiltration of the liver
- -
- increased fat mobilization from depots
Lipoidoses
Local:
- cholesteatoma in the choroid plexus
- on the pleura
- atherosclerosis
