Facial Nerve Flashcards
Describe the intracranial route of the facial nerve
Pons, IAM, facial canal where it forms geniculate ganglion, exits cranium via stylomastoid foramen
Describe the extracranial course of the facial nerve
Runs ant to outer ear, terminates in parotid gland
What three branches are given off intracranially?
Greater petrosal
Nerve to stapedius
Corda tympani
What three branches are given off extracranially before entering the parotid gland?
Post auricular
Nerve to digastric
Nerve to stylohyoid
What five branches does the facial nerve terminate into in the parotid gland?
Temporalis Zygomatic Buccal Marginal mandibular Cervical
What does the temporal nerve supply?
Frontalis, obicularis occuli, corrugated supercili
What does the zygomatic nerve supply?
