Q

what is blepharoplasty used for?

what is the physiology behind ageing eyelids

explain what happens during blepharoplasty

A

Ageing eyelids

Accumulation of loose skin forms deepening creases in the lower lids.
Slackening of the muscle beneath the skin allowing the fat, which cushions the eyes in their sockets, to protrude forward to give the appearance of bagginess

Blepharoplastyis an operation to reshape the eyelids.

Incision in the creases of the upper lids and just below the lashes in the lower.

Through these incisions, extra fat, excess skin and sagging muscle are removed.

Q

What is the difference between healing by secondary intention and primary closure?

A

SI = irregular wound, granulation over wound the epithelium covers it

however it can have better cosmetic outcomes doing it this way

FI = the skin just heals over the wound due to it being sewed up
