Extraction Steam, Heater Vents, and Drains Flashcards
Extraction Steam, heater vents, and Drains have 3 major functions.
(ESHVAD)
- Preheating the feedwater
- Venting of non-condensable gases from the feedwater heaters and moisture separator reheaters
- Draining of the condensate back to the hotwell
Feedwater heaters use what to heat feedwater/condensate? By how much from 1st to last FW Heater? How much each heater?
- Extraction steam heats
- 99F to 435F from 1A/B to 6A/B
- Each heater increases heat by about 50F
FW heater drains, drain to? (Normal flowpath)
-4A/B to 3A/B to 2A/B to 1A/B to Condenser hotwell
FW Heat Drains, drain to? (Alternate)
- 4A/B to condenser
- 3A/B to condenser
- 2A/B to condenser
FW Heaters 5A/B and 6A/B get extraction steam from?
-HP turbine
FW Heater 5A/B drains to?
-Drains to the suction of the Heater Drain Pumps
FW Heater 6A/B drain to?
-Heater drain tank
MSR’s heat steam by? Drains to?
- Takes steam off the main steam line before it enters the HP turbine to heat exhausted steam from the HP turbine before entering the LP turbines.
- Shell side drains to Heater drain tank (liquid)
- Tube side drains to MSR drain tank
What goes in the shell side of the 6A/B FW heaters?
-MSR drain tank and HP turbine extraction steam
FW Heaters 3A/B and 4A/B have how many non-return valves?
-1 each
FW Heaters 5A/B and 6A/B have how many non-return valves?
-2 each
Quenching valves purpose? located?
- To deliver cool condensate water to HDT to keep the flashings of the saturated water in the tanks.
- Once opened they remain open for 6 min.
- North Mezz lvl
1A/B and 2A/B FWH have how many drains?
- 3 drains
- Both alternate to Condenser
- Both Emergency dump to condenser
- 2A/B drains to 1A/B normally
