Purpose of the EDG CO2 Fire Suppression system?
How many bottles
A
- Extinguish a fire in the EDG rooms by smothering and cooling.
- 19 bottles

If there is a fire in Either EDG Room what happens?
A
- 30sec alarm delay (Alarm cylinder takes 30mins to exhaust)
- 4 Pilot cylinders open to fill header to open the rest of the CO2 cylinders (2 with manual handwheels for manual operation)
- 19 CO2 cylinders empty into either EDG A (Zone2) or EDG B (Zone1)

How many in each room, what is it, what it does
A
- 2 in each room.
- Thine walled bulb shaped chamber, head expands the air in the chamber, the increasing air pressure is transmitted via tubing to the ROR release assembly.
- ROR releases pilot pressure which beings actuation sequence.
- Closes Dampers/Stops Supply fans, exhaust fans AND STOPS FUEL OIL TRANSFER PUMPS

- 2 infrared flame detectors
- 1 heat detector
- 1 manual pull station
- Does not actuate CO2
- Closes Dampers/Stops Supply fans and exhaust fans

- Extinguish a fire in the North Cable Vault room, Zone 9
- Extinguish a fire in the South Cable Vault Room, Zone 10
- 36 bottles total

A
- Gets 7 cylinders. Either from Main bank or reserve bank.
- All 18 from either Main bank, or Reserve bank

When will CO2 actuate in Zone 9 or 10?
A
-Need 2 separate fire alarm signals from the same fire detection zone. (one on each train) -Can be manually operated from Cylinders -Can be operated from FDAP A-1 or B-1 -Manual pull stations. 2 in each zone.
