Local- trauma, local infection, middle ear discharge

Itch Inflammation, redness, swelling Pain and tenderness Reduced hearing Cracked, crusted skin
What is the management of otitis externa?
Aural toilet
Local antibiotics/steroids
What causes haematoma auris and what does it progress to?
Blunt trauma
Cauliflower ear
What is the management of haematoma auris?
Drainage and antibiotic cover

Papilloma
Adenoma
Exotoses- bony spur
What are exotoses associated with?
Cold water exposure
What are the most common malignant tumours of the external ear?
SCC and BCC
What is the presentation of BCC and SCC of the external ear?
Ulcerating and/or crusting lesion
What is the management of malignant lesions of the external ear?
Excision and consider radio
