experimental methods Flashcards
what is an aim (2)
states the purpose of the study and is developed from theories
eg. to investigate whether drinking energy drinks makes people more talkative
what is a hypothesis
statement that clearly states the relationship between variables investigated
what is directional hypothesis
-states the direction in the relationship between 2 variables
-has previous research where the data suggests a p articular outcome
what is non directional hypothesis
states there is a difference in the relationship between 2 variables
what is the IV
variable that has been manipulated by researcher
what is the DV
variable measure by researcher and has been caused by a change in the IV
what is operationalising of variables
clearly defining the variables in terms of how theyre being measured
eg. after drinking 300ml of caffeine, p’s say more words in the next 5 minutes compared to p’s how drank 300ml of water
