• Categorized self into four parts:
Johari window
public, secret, blind and dark
represents part of you that both you and others are aware of
Public Area
represents part of you which you are not aware of but others do not know about
Blind
represents part of you that both you and others are aware of
Public Area
represents part of you which you are aware of but others do not know about
Hidden Area
represents the part of you that is unknown to you and others
Dark Area
can be seen as the space where good communications and cooperation occur, free from distractions, mistrust, confusion, conflict and misunderstanding.
Free Area
The cognitive process people use to make sense out of the environment by selecting, organizing and interpreting information.
Perception
Process by which individuals screen and select the various stimuli that contend for their attention.
Perceptual Selectivity
Errors in perceptual judgement that arise from inaccuracies in any part of the perceptual process.
Perceptual Distortions
Occurs when the perceiver develops an over all impression of a person or a situation.
Halo Effect
The tendency of perceivers to see their own personal traits in other people; they project their own needs, feelings, values, attitudes into their judgement of others.
Projection
Tendency of the perceivers to protect themselves against unpleasant or dangerous stimulus.
