What is basal cell carcinoma?

What are the risk factors for basal cell carcinoma?

What is squamous cell carcinoma?
Second most common skin cancer
- Scaling, crusting, raised nodule that may bleed

What is a “dysplastic mole?”
An atypical moles that is unusually benign but may resemble melanoma
What are the characteristics of a dysplastic mole?
Varied appearance Irregular borders Fades in surrounding skin Smooth, scaly, rough, irregular >6mm Found on back, below waist, scalp, breast buttocks
What is the difference between vellus & terminal hair?
Vellus= short, fine, inconspicuous, and relatively unpigmented
Terminal= coarser, thicker, more conspicuous, usually pigmented (e.g. scalp & eyebrows)
