Angular Cheilosis
Reddish inflammation of the lip/s & production of fissures that radiate from the angles of the mouth
Branchial Cleft Cyst
Congenital lesion due to incomplete involution of the branchial cleft, typically in the lateral neck
Cholesteatoma
Mass of keratinizing squamous epithelium & cholesterol in the middle ear, usually caused by chronic OM, with squamous metaplasia
Cholasma
“Mask of pregnancy” or a common facial discoloration seen in pregnancy
Encephalocele
Neural tube defect with protrusions of brain & membranes that cover openings in the skull
Epstein pearls
Multiple small, white, epithelial inclusion cysts found in the midline palate in newborn infants
Fordyce Spots
Ectopic sebaceous glands of the buccal mucosa appearing as yellow-white raised lesions found on the inner surface and vermillion border of the lips
Koplik’s Spots
Small red spots with bluish-white centers on buccal mucosa opposite the molar teeth, appearing in the prodromal stage of measles
Leukoplakia
- Circumscribed, firmly attached, thick white patches on the tongue and other mucous membranes, often occurring as a precancerous growth - Associated with pipe smoking & snuff

Otitis Externa
Inflammation of the external auditory canal, usually due to bacterial or fungal infection
Otitis Media
Inflammation/infection of the tympanum or middle ear
Ostosclerosis
Deposits of bone resulting in immobilization of the stapes
Peritonsillar Abscess
Deep infection in the space between the soft palate and tonsil
Pharyngitis
Inflammation/Infection of the mucous membrane underlying parts of the pharynx
