Leukemia
tumor is originally a leukocyte, present in blood and bone marrow
Lymphoma
tumor is originally in the lymph nose, present in lymph tissue
Acute Myeloid Leukemia
adults, blasts in bone marrow, malignancy of granulocytes
Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
adults, mutation in Philadelphia Chromosome, usually granulocytes affected
Acute Lymphoid Leukemia/ Lymphoma
children, anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, bone pain, bleeding, fever, infection, B cell malignancy, 5 year survival
Chronic Lymphoid Leukemia/ Lymphoma
Mostly B cell malignancy, older adults, asymptomatic for years, fatigue, weight loss, anorexia
Multiple Myeloma (Plasma Cell Myeloma)
malignant antibody secreting B cells, older adults, lower back pain, fever, night sweats, kidney dysfunction, Bence - Jones Proteins
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Reed - Sternberg cells (RS cells), slow, more predictable progression, malignant B cells
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
No RS cells, less predictable progression, malignant B cells, T cells, and NK cells
What do lymphoid stem cells create?
NK cells, B cells, T cells
What do myeloid stem cell create?
Neutrophils, monocyte, RBC, megakaryocytes
What are the clinical presentations of a WBC malignancy?
fever, weight loss, fatigue, night sweats, bone pain, bleeding, enlargement of the spleen, changes in blood labs
