Board of Nursing
appointed by governor
5-19 members
purpose:

- -issue licenses to those qualified
- -impart disciplinary actions

successful completion of RN program
successful completion of NCLEX-RN
in good standing w/ state board

Renewal of Licensure

Reciprocity

Licensure No-No’s
practicing impaired substance use/abuse incompetence/negligence felony or misdemeanor charge unprofessional/immoral acts physical impairment
Discipline of licensure
CENSURE: public reprimand (“slap on wrist”)
PROBATION: place terms and conditions on licensee’s license
SUSPENSION: cease practice for up to 3 years
REVOCATION: immediately loses license and may no longer practice nursing
–most restrictive
