A mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder resulting in serious functional impairment, which substantially interferes with or limits one or more major life activities.

What is the definition of mental illness based on socially?

What is unipolar (major) depression?
Serious mood disorder, distinct from ‘normal depressive moods’
Considered ‘abnormal when out of proportion to the event and continues past the point at which most people begin to recover.’
