Exam 1: Lecture 1 Flashcards
The steps of the Nagi Classification:
Disease (pathology) to Impairment ( Structure/ Fxn) to Fucntional Limitaion ( performing tasks) to Disability ( limitation) to hanicap ( social disadvantage)
Location and fxn of parietal lobe
Behind central sulcus and fxn is sensory
What is the purpose of somatosensory cortex?
sensation awareness
Location and function of frontal lobe?
responsible for movement. Front lobe
Location and fxn of temporal
sides of brain by your temples. For hearing and language
What is a myotome
single spinal nerve that innervates a muscle
Key myotome for C5, C6, C7, C8 ?
C5: abductors, deltoid
C6: elbox flexors, biceps
C7: elbox flexors, biceps
C8: thumb
What is motor control?
The ability to maintain and change posture
Key myotomes for T1, L3, L4,L5, S1 ?
T1: fingers L3: leg ext/ quads L4: dorsiflexiors L5: toe extensors S1: plantarlexion
Hierarchical theory
Theory of top down. Think a certain way and will move that way. Reflexes primitive
4 spinal reflexes
Asymmetrical tonic neck reflex- hand out to side head is looking, Symmetrical tonic neck reflex-head and arms flex up, moro- head goes back and so does arms, rooting- feeding reflex.
When are primitive reflexes integrated by
4-6 months
3 branches of Willis
Anterior, Middle, and posterior cerebral artery
What are equilibrium reactions?
Reactions of whole body centre .
What is the first postural control to develop?
Head righting- keeping head aligned with trunk
