What are the 5 criteria in Fraser Guidelines that a patient must meet to be deemed competent to consent?
- Sufficient maturity & intelligence to understand
- Cannot be persuaded to tell parents/allow doctor to tell parents
- Very likely to begin/continue having sex without contraception
- Mental/physical health will suffer without advice/treatment
- Advice/treatment is in young person’s best interests
A person 16 or over is assumed to be competent to make decisions about their sexual activity for themselves unless:
