9
Q

Explain the stages of red blood cell formation

A

1)Proerythroblast: the nucleus is very large, cytoplasm is basophillic and no formation of haemoglobin

2) BASOPHILLIC erythroblast: the nucleus has reduced, no presence of haemoglobin

3) Polychromophillic erythroblast: haemoglobin appears which stain acidic and cytoplasm stain BASOPHILLIC

4)Orthochromatic erythroblast: nucleus disappears, haemoglobin increase well making the cytoplasm acidophillic

5) RETICULOCYTE

After 1 to 2 days MATURED ERYTHROCYTE

12
Q

Function of vitamin b12 in Erythropoeisis and it’s deficiency

A

Vitamin b12 is used in the production of dna in RBC

it’s deficiency leads to pernicious anaemia or megaloblastic anaemia

16
Q

GATA 1 does what

A

It binds the dna of red blood cells to other protein to cause the division of immature rbc to special

17
Q

Thallesmia

A

A condition where there is an abnormal reduction of haemoglobin in the blood

18
Q

Sickle cell is

A

An abnormal production of Globin in the blood I.e the haemoglobin count is normal but the quality is not normal

19
Q

What is erythropoietin

A

A hormone secreted by the kidney and liver
A circulating glycoprotein

20
Q

Erythropoietin acts on

A

Colony formation unit-erythroid

Their receptors appear little on BFU-E

21
Q

Condition that stimulate Erythropoeisis

A

High altitude
Cardiac failure
Lung problem
Anaemia
Poor blood flow

22
Q

Erythropoeitin prevent apoptosis of rbc

TRUE/FALSE

A

True

23
Q

Intrinsic factor of castle is gotten from

A

Gastric juice in our stomach

24
Q

Deficiency of iron leads to

A

Microcytic anaemia or hypochromic anaemia

Used in the production of haemoglobin

25
Q

The receptor for iron intake in Erythropoeisis is

A

CD71( transferrin receptor)

26
Q

Erythropoeisis takes a maximum of

A

14 days in vitro

27
Q

Formation of pro erythroblast to reticulocyte takes

A

7 days
