What is erosive OA ?
A
This is an inflammatory type of primary OA.

What gender does erosive OA usually affect ?
A
Females post menopausal.

What does erosive OA look like radiographically ?
A
-Joint space narrowing.
-Subchondral erosions “gull wing appearance”
- Joint ankylosis.
- No marginal erosions, soft tissue swelling or osteopenia.

What is the distribution of erosive OA ?
A
This is the same as primary osteoarthritis - Distal interphalangeal joints, Proximal interphalangeal joints and base of the thumb.
It is bilateral and symmetrical.

What is the one body part erosive OA exclusively occurs ?
A
The hands
