Epithelial Tissue - Slides Flashcards
what is b? what kind of tissue is this

A goblet cell. pseudo stratified
What tupe of glands are these

Multicellular mucous glands
What is b

The entire small intestine is covered by a continuous layer of simple columnar epithelium. The epithelium covers the villi, and then dips down to form simple intestinal glands, as indicated in ‘b’.
What kind of gland is this

Sebaceous.
What is the difference between serous and mucosal glands

Much of the tissue in the right half of the slide is made up of acini of mucous secretory glandular tissue. The serous (or watery) secretory product contains digestive enzymes, which of course are proteins. The cellular machinery (the rough ER) that produces the enzymes as well as the packets of enzymes in the apical cytoplasm, stain richly with the H&E stain, and appear dark. In contrast, mucous secretory cells secrete a think, carbohydrate-rich product. This mucous does not stain with an H&E stain, so that part of the tissue appears pale.
