Connective Tissue - Slides Flashcards

Collagen Fibers
-See light/dark banding pattern
What is on the left? What is on the right?
What are the dark dots on the left?

On the left is dense irregular ct, on the right is loose irregular ct
The dark dots are nuclei of fibroblasts
Notice the collagen fibers are oriented in many directions -allows the body to deal with stress in many directions.
The space between is ground substance.

Tendon

Reticular Fibers.
What are the top arrows pointing to? the bottom ones?

Two top arrows point to elastic fibers, two bottom ones point to collagen fibers
What do the arrows point to? What are the cells on the left?

Top wrrow to elastic fiber in irregular CT
Bottom arrow to elast fiber in dense regular CT
Cells are adipocytes
What are these two cells? What is the difference

They are both fibroblasts. Bottom are active top is dormant
WHat kind fo cell is this

Unilocular Adipocytes

Multilocular Adipocytes

Multilocular Adipocytes

Unilocular Adipocytes

Histiocyte/Macrophage. Usually dormant like on top.

Plasma Cell
“cartwheel nucleus”

Mast Cells

Reticular Fiber in lymph

Dense Irregular CT
