Epithelial Tissue Flashcards
Types of epithelium cells that are Flat and thin cells
Squamous Cells
Types of epithelium cells that are “cube-shaped” cells
Cuboidal Cells
Types of epithelium cells that are tall and thin cells
Columnar Cells
What is Simple Epithelium
one layer of epithelial cells
Two or more layer of cells
Pseudo stratification Epithelium
Under the specialization of pseudostratification that tissue can be stretched
Transitional Epithelium
- Single layer of squamous that are flat and thin cells
- Filtration and diffusion, and secretion
Simple Squamous Epithelium
- single layer of cuboidal (cube-like) cells
Simple Cuboidal Epithelium
- Single layer of columnar which are narrow cells
Simple Columnar Epithelium
- Under simple columnar epithelial cells
- As the primary site for nutrient digestion and mucosal absorption
Goblet Cells
- Being an epithelium consisting of closely packed cells which appear to be arranged in layers
Pseudo stratification Epithelium
- single layer of irregularly shaped and differently sized columnar cells.
PS Squamous Epithelium
- Multiple layer of cube shape cells
- Protection from infection
- Secretion
PS Cuboidal Epithelium
What is PS Columnar Epithelium
- Tall and thin cells
- Protection and secretion
- Highly modified cells
- Appear cuboidal when the tube/organ is not stretch
- Appear squamous when tube tube/organ is stretched.
Transitional Epithelium
