What is the name of the enzyme hypothesis and what represents what?
The lock and key hypothesis and the enzyme represents the key and the substrate represents the key.
What is the name of the place where the enzyme and substrate fit?
The active site.
What does it mean when enzymes are denatured?
When enzymes are denatured it means they went over their optimum temperature and they changed shape so the substrate no longer fits.
State 4 characteristics of enzymes.
Enzymes are biological catalysts which speed up the rate of reaction, enzymes are very specific and only fit into a certain substrate, enzymes are made of proteins and enzymes have multiple chemical reactions going on inside them like photosynthesis and respiration.
What 3 factors affect the enzyme’s action?
The rate of the enzyme action is affected by temperature, pH, substrate and enzyme concentration.
What happens if the temperature is too high or low in enzymes?
If the temperature is low in enzymes the rate of reaction will be very slow, however if it is too hot the enzyme will denature and no longer function.
