Enzymes and Digestion Flashcards
Enzymes have five important properties. What are they?
🚝 They are always proteins
🚝 There are substrate specific in their action
🚝 They can be used over and over again
🚝 They work best at specific optimum temperature
🚝 They are sensitive to PH
What are enzymes needed for?
Enzymes are needed to break down large insoluble molecules into small soluble ones.
What is the function of the digestive system?
The function of the digestive system is to break down large insoluble molecules into smaller soluble ones that are then able to be absorbed - pass across the wall ingestive system and into the blood.
What are enzymes?
Enzymes are biological catalysts. They speed up reactions and without them reactions would be slow for organisms to survive.
