What is otitis media with effusion?
Non-infective middle ear effusion that persists for weeks following resolution of AOM
Which features suggest a peritonsillar abscess (quinsy) in patients with tonsillitis?
Muffled speech
Trismus (limited ROM in the jaw)
High fever and severe pain
What is the most common cause of otitis externa?
Pseudomonas aeruginosa
What clinical features suggest mastoiditis following AOM?
Persistence/recurrence of otalgia and fever after initial improvement
Ear discharge becomes profuse
Tender and oedematous mastoid
Ear displaced laterally and forward
