Energy management tips Flashcards
Good check when reaching FL100?
30nm——FL100——250kt
Wind corrections
10kts = 1nm
Tailwind +
Headwind -
1:3 rule?
To descend 1000ft we need 3nm
Weight correction
58 Tn is the reference
1 tn = 1nm
Example: 64 tn = 6nm
321 rule?
At 10nm——— 3000ft…..200kt……flaps 1
To comply restriction of FL 100 at 250kt
Generally descending at 280kts
At FL 110 or 105
- v/s -200ft/m
- speed 250kt
Or set MCP altitude 10000ft and the acft will level at that altitude. When decelerate to desire speed continue descent with lvl chg or v/s
Or at FL100 push alt hold
How to get a high FPA descent?
- 200kt…..flaps 5…..speedbrake = FPA 4.0
* 180 kt….flaps 10…..speedbrake = FPA 5.0
Approaching straight deceleration
We can draw 3 arcs of 15, 10 and 5 no by the following:
- 15 nm arc: decelerate from 250kt to Fup speed
- 10nm arc: 200kt flap 1 (321 rule)
- 5nm arc: 160kt flap 15
While using 3:1 rule, how do you calculate your rate of descent and approach?
speed X 5= rate of descent
Example:
- approach:
Gs=400 kt => r/d= 2000ft/min
During descent use TAS / 2
Rapid FPA calculations
Descending at :
- 250kt…………fpa 2,5 aprox
- 300kt……….fpa 3.0 aprox
