Q

To comply restriction of FL 100 at 250kt

A

Generally descending at 280kts
At FL 110 or 105

  • v/s -200ft/m
  • speed 250kt

Or set MCP altitude 10000ft and the acft will level at that altitude. When decelerate to desire speed continue descent with lvl chg or v/s

Or at FL100 push alt hold

Q

How to get a high FPA descent?

A
  • 200kt…..flaps 5…..speedbrake = FPA 4.0

* 180 kt….flaps 10…..speedbrake = FPA 5.0

Q

Approaching straight deceleration

We can draw 3 arcs of 15, 10 and 5 no by the following:

A
  • 15 nm arc: decelerate from 250kt to Fup speed
  • 10nm arc: 200kt flap 1 (321 rule)
  • 5nm arc: 160kt flap 15

Q

While using 3:1 rule, how do you calculate your rate of descent and approach?

A

speed X 5= rate of descent

Example:

  • approach:

Gs=400 kt => r/d= 2000ft/min

During descent use TAS / 2
