what is an apprentice and what rights do they have?
A
- combined work with study
- can be anyone over the age of 16 and not in full time education
- apprentices over the age of 19 are entitled to national minimum wage for the first year and then for their age

A
- work to terms of contract but may have less employment rights (mat/ paternity pay)
- could include casual work, agency, locum, seasonal, zero hours
- entitled to national minimum wage, holiday pay and protection against unlawful discrimination and treatment

what is a self-employed person and what rights do they have?
A
- usually run their own business, contracting services to a client
- don’t have right to holiday pay
- have protection for their health and safety on a clients premises

what is an intern and what rights do they have?
A
- normally a graduate or undergraduate who goes through a selection process
- can last a few weeks to a year
- normally paid national minimum wage
