what are the 8 basic measures that employers (and sometimes employees) must follow?
A
- assess risks to health from hazardous substances
- decide what precautions are needed before carrying out any work that could expose your employees to hazardous substances
- ensure that control measures are used and maintained safety procedures followed
- carry out appropriate health surveillance
- prevent or control exposure
- monitor exposure
- ensure employees are properly informed, trained and supervised
- prepare plans and procedures to deal with accidents, incidents and emergencies
