Electrics Flashcards
What is the minimum speed for the RAT?
140kts
How many aircraft batteries?
2
Nickel cadmium batteries
28V 23Ah
Can the AC ESS BUS 1 be powered by AC BUS 2?
Yes, automatically via the AC ESS FEED
Normally powered by AC BUS 1 via a contactor
2 conditions for disconnecting the IDG
Engine must be windmilling
DO NOT PRESS FOR MORE THAN 3 seconds!!!
When will the IDG fault light illuminate?
If oil temp exceeds 180°C
Low oil pressure (inhibited when N2<14%)
How long does the RAT take to extend?
5s for extension
+3s for power
If GEN 1 is offline it still powers
2 fuel pumps and 1 igniter
How long does the APU take to auto shutdown after providing air-conditioning?
60-120s at 75%
When will the RAT auto deploy?
AC BUS 1 & AC BUS 2 unpowered
(Speed must be >100kts)
Automatically powers the BLUE hyd system which drives the EMER GEN
What BUS bars are available with only emergency GEN operating?
AC ESS BUS
DC ESS BUS (via the ESS TR)
Below 100kts how is the DC BAT BUS powered?
Batteries
CBs
Green
Black
Red
Green - monitored (by panel) ECAM after 1 min
Black - not monitored
Red - only reset by maintenance
CB collars
Black
Yellow
Red
Black - system permanently deactivated or not installed
Yellow - system deactivated
Red - CVR/FDR deactivated IAW SOP
Why do Wing Tip Brakes (WTB) have red caps?
To prevent reset
AC power connection priority
ENG GENs
GPU
APU
When will a battery fault light illuminate?
When the charging current for the corresponding battery is outside of limits
In this case, the contact opens
AMBER “BAT 1/2” light on overhead panel
“ELEC BAT 1/2 FAULT” on ECAM
Is the TAT probe heated?
Yes, only in flight
What is powered on the ground (<50kts) by BAT 1 & 2?
HOT BUS 1&2 (always)
DC BAT BUS
DC ESS BUS
What is powered In flight with BAT only?
HOT BUS 1&2 (always)
BAT 1 supplies AC ESS BUS (via the STA INV)
BAT 2 supplies DC ESS BUS
MAINT BUS ON
Provides power for ground services if EXT PWR connected
5 AC sources?
2 ENG GEN (IDGs)
APU
EMER GEN (RAT)
EXT PWR
STATIC INVERTER
AC PWR from IDGs
Three phase 90kVA 115/200V 400hz
Priority over all other PWR sources
DC PWR sources
2 Batteries
3 TRs (Transformer Rectifiers)
