*Electrical-Emergency Electrical Power Panel Flashcards
*What powers the EMERGENCY GENERATOR?
Blue hydraulic system pressure generated by the RAT (Ram Air Turbine).
When does the RAT automatically deploy?
Inflight with a loss of power to AC bus 1 and 2, and speed >100 kts.
What is the source of power during RAT deployment and approximately how long does it take?
The aircraft batteries are the sole source of electrical power for the AC and DC Essential Buses until the EMER GEN is online, which takes 8 seconds (3 for RAT extension, 5 to pressurize the Blue hyd. sys. and power the EMER GEN).
*What does the red FAULT light on the RAT & EMER GEN pb indicate?
Loss of power to the AC Bus 1+2, and the EMER GEN is not supplying power.
*1-What happens when you push the GEN 1 LINE pb to OFF?
2-And when is this procedure used?
-Gen 1 Line Contactor opens and the white OFF light illuminates.
-AC BUS 1 is powered by GEN 2 through the BUS TIE CONTACTOR.
-GEN 1 powers one fuel pump in each wing tank.
2-Used in Smoke procedures
Will the RAT deploy on the ground if the MAN ON pb is pressed?
YES
Do pilots ever use the EMER GEN TEST pb?
No- MX function only.
*What buses are powered by the emergency generator?
AC ESS and AC ESS SHED buses
DC ESS and DC ESS SHED buses
*What is the function of the RAT & EMER GEN pushbutton?
AUTO-RAT will automatically extend if AC BUS 1 & 2 are not powered and airspeed >100 knots.
MAN- extend the RAT at any time.
*How long does it take for the RAT to extend and provide power?
8 seconds (3 to extend, and 5 to pressurize the blue hyd system and power the EMER GEN)
*Is there another way to deploy the RAT?
Yes, RAT MAN ON, from the hydraulic panel.
*What is the different about deploying the RAT via the HYD panel?
Bue HYD pressure only. No emergency Generator.
