Additional Notes To Know Flashcards
If during engine start, ground crew reports a fuel leak from the engine drain mast, what should you do?
Run the engine on idle for 5 mins. If it disappears within 5 mins, then you can be dispatched without Mx action. If the leak does not disappear, call Mx.
Should the electrical power supply be interrupted during the engine start sequence (indicated by the loss of ECAM DUs), what should we do?
Abort the start by switching off the ENG MASTER switch, then perform a 30 second dry crank.
How long, after the second engine is started, do the pack valves reopen?
30 sec after the second engine N2 is above 50%
How long after the 2nd engine is started must we wait before taking off?
2 mins for thermal shock, and 2 mins (running congruently), for the center pump test (cannot take off with center pumps feeding).
PRO-NORM-SOP-10
What are ICE SHEDDING procedures, and when should they be applied?
70% N1 for 30 seconds (or as high as practical) at intervals of no more than 30 mins.
Enhance ice shedding may be enhanced during periods of FZRA, FZDZ, FZFG or HVY SN, ice shedding may be enhanced, by additional run ups at intervals to not exceed 10 mins by advancing the throttles to 70% N1 (no hold time).
What should we do differently when taxiing, during icing conditions with rain, snow or slush?
- Maintain the flaps retracted until the holding point of the take off runway.
- after landing, keep the flaps extended until after you can inspect for icing in the flap tracks during the walk-around.
What is the engine clearing procedure.
70% N1 for 30 seconds every 30 mins
In FZRA, FZDR, FZFG or +SN, advance throttles to 70% momentarily (no hold time).
If the second engine is started within 40 secs., following cargo doors ops, what happens?
You get a PTU FAULT
Refer to PRO-ABN-HYD HYD PTU FAULT
What is the difference between a fuel quantity indication that has an amber half a box around it, or 2 dashed lines across the last 2 digits of the fuel quantity?
Half a box means not all fuel is usable, there’s a valve failure (closed) between tanks probably.
The lines across the digits means the FQI is in degraded mode and there is a loss of accuracy in the quantity of fuel on board.
Why do we turn off the Y electric pump before we start the second engine, on the Delyed Engine Start procedure?
To enable the PTU to do its automatic test, during the starting sequence of the 2nd engine.
When do we select IGN on the ENG MODE selector?
Engine start
Standing water on runway
Heavy rain
Heavy rain or severe turbulence during departure.

Approach Checklist
Min. Stabilization Altitudes during approach.
- 1000’ when less than or equal to 1500’ ceilings and 5 SM vis
- 500’ when greater then 1500’ and 5 SM vis
How do you manage degraded navigation during an approach?
For VOR and NDB approaches revert to raw data.
- NAV FPA if the vert. guidance is not satisfactory
- TRK FPA if the lateral guidance is not satisfactory
For RNAV approaches with LNAV minima: -Use the remaining AP/FD if on one ND or FMGS you get "GPS PRIMARY LOST" or "NAV ACCUR DOWNGRAD" -Discontinue the approach if IMC and "GPS PRIMARY LOST" on both NDs "NAV GM/GPS POS DISAGREE" on ECAM "NAV ACCUR DOWNGRAD" on both FMGS XTK <0.3 NM
